The beautiful falls of Glen Onoko are right next door in Lehigh Gorge State Park. Great boating, swimming and fishing are available at Mauch Chunk Lake Park just east of downtown. A few easy miles down the road are several other beautiful outdoor destinations sure to satisfy your love of the outdoors.

LEHIGH GORGE STATE PARK -website-

CARBON COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER -website-
Housed in a converted 1920 dairy barn, the CCEEC is on 70 acres of woodland, wetland, and meadow habitat within Mauch Chunk Lake Park, 4 miles from downtown. Educational programs, wildlife rehabilitation hospital, raptor displays, walking trails. Center open Mon-Fri, 8-4:30 but Raptor cages dawn to dusk.
